Systems Administrator and technical supervisor with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with people of varying technical expertise on projects. This allows me to act as a liaison between functional areas and highly technical people, bringing the people and technology together into a functional unit.

(Educational Institution; 501-1000 employees; Information Technology and Services industry)
April 1999 — Present (10 years 4 months)
I am responsible for the physical infrastructure of the server and network node rooms, including power and cooling. In addition, I am the technical contact person for several areas on campus including Facilities and the Campus Police.
Responsible for desktop automation utilizing tools such as Active Directory and Group Policy, along with other tools such as Microsoft Systems Management Server and ePolicy Orchestrator.
Responsible for maintaining login scripts and developing remote installation methods for software and utilities.
(Educational Institution; 201-500 employees; Higher Education industry)
September 1994 — April 1999 (4 years 8 months)
I was responsible for training and managing student technicians, who would go out on campus and repair hardware and software problems for Faculty and Staff office machines. I also served as their mentor, showing them how to handle difficult situations and learn from mistakes.
Working in an extremely diverse arena such as Higher Education, there are a lot of personalities that can sometimes be a challenge. My ability to assist the student on how to handle such situations made them much more marketable than simply giving them technical skills, once they left. This, I think, was the most rewarding part of that position.
(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Publishing industry)
August 1993 — September 1994 (1 year 2 months)

In addition, I was responsible for answering telephone Help Desk calls to resolve our electronic publishing technical issues.
While there, I was involved in a CDROM labeller invention, which was exciting.
Prior to my leaving, I also helped to make a new "awards" division a viable area.
