    Softec.org

    (Non-Profit; Non-Profit Organization Management industry)

    2000Present (8 years)

Softec promotes and facilitates networking (of the human type), resource sharing, advocacy, and economic development for the software and technology industries on the Central Coast of California. It helps businesses and individuals establish contacts and share experience and technical knowledge with others interested in software and technology.

When I moved back to San Luis Obispo in 1994 people thought I was crazy because "there isn't a technology industry there." They were wrong. In short order I created a database of over 40 companies in the County that were technology related. I thought it would be great if there was an organization to give substance to the tech community. In 1999 I was introduced to Softec and in 2000 I became an active member.

We created a 5,000 sqf studio complete with blue screen stage, editing suites, sound booth, office space, and workshop.

We created some of the first local commercials shot on film rather than video. We also moved to HD video early on. It was very exciting and fun.
