I have recently taken a new leadership role at Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization that helps people develops public speaking, communication and leadership skills. I am responsible for the success and development of the organisation across London. We currently have around 1,000 members in London.
I also give speeches both for love and money and coach people through speeches and presentations.
Finally, I help businesses with business plans and marketing activities. I am currently acting as a marketing consultant to a portfolio risk management software business, helping them revamp their marketing activity.
Prior to this, I served as CEO of a marketing technology consulting firm. We helped large organizations to improve processes within their marketing operations. We also advised on technology solutions to help those process improvements. We were a small but highly regarded specialist in Marketing Resource Management software.
Prior to this, I was the co-CEO of an early stage venture capital business. We injected both money and expertise into early stage enterprise software and Internet businesses.
My original background is in Institutional Equity Sales, working for EF Hutton, Prudential Bache, Drexel Burnham Lambert and finally for Cowen & Co. I have worked in US and European equities, specialising in the high growth industries of technology and healthcare. I left as a Director of SG Cowen.

As a keen public speaker, I have spoken to conferences, seminars, networking events and companies on marketing, networking and personal effectiveness. These have been both on a paid and pro bono basis.
I also coach people with both personal and professional speeches. My big interest is in how we can create better business presentations. I believe that people’s poor public speaking ability creates our reliance on PowerPoint. As such, I focus on improving speaking skills first and only later on how to use props (such as PowerPoint) to complement the speech.

I also give consulting advice to businesses in the technology and financial industries. I have written business plans, helped businesses find their best market positioning, and given advice on marketing issues such as how to improve their website. This has been for both pure start-ups and also businesses wanting to grow to the next level.
