Since I began my entrepreneurial journey in the mid-1970s, I have created and operated numerous businesses, and have had the privilege to meet and work with the owners of hundreds of other small and mid-size businesses across the country.
Over the years I have observed that a relatively small number of firms succeed while countless others fail and flail - repeating the same mistakes as hundreds of their predecessors. Starting in 2004, I began compiling my experience and observations into what I call The Secrets of Small Business Mastery, Six Steps to Lifelong Success, and have launched Radio Free Enterprise to share these timeless fundamentals.
The Six Steps I share with entrepreneurs through my publications, seminars, personal consulting and Radio Free Enterprise are, in my order of priority: 1) Decide What You Want; 2) Build A Customer Factory; 3) Find The Money; 4) Keep Your Promises; 5) Lead The People; 6) Handle The Details.

I created the four-step Customer Factory marketing model to give every small and mid-size business owner a simple roadmap to marketing and sales success. Based on the illustration of an assembly-line manufacturing process, The Customer Factory starts by showing you how to Design Your Customer (Target Marketing), Pick Your Production Process (retail, direct-response, E-Commerce, direct sales, etc.), Tool It Up (select and create the appropriate print collateral, web presences, salespeople, etc. and plug them into a systematic process) and Turn It On (commit the financial and emotional resources required to start and continually operate your marketing plan). Any business can create and implement one - or more - Customer Factories to generate dependable revenue streams for years to come. I show them how.
