As Group IT Operations & Infrastructure manager it is my responsibility to manage multi-disciplined, multi-cultural, geographically dispersed teams who provide operational excellence in Microsoft’s Business Group IT. To achieve this I participate in operational strategy related to the business and technology of Microsoft while managing multiple systems and releases of varying levels of complexity during implementation and production. I set direction on guidelines and procedures to ensure appropriate consistency and quality in service level provided while monitoring progress towards business goals/service level agreements and adjusting assignments as necessary.
I am responsible for ensuring that each reported problem/question is resolved by my group in a timely manner and tracked according to process standards (based on MOF and ITIL framework). I coordinate and manage acceptance of new releases into production and production environment 'readiness' by participating in project team activities prior to release to ensure documentation and staffing are in place to meet support requirements. I communicate the prioritization of immediate 'fixes' to customers and update them with frequent status. I drive my teams towards continuous improvement activities and exercise judgment, within broadly defined practices/policies, in selecting methods/techniques for obtaining solutions.
I regularly prepare presentations and status reporting to ensure a proactive and cooperative relationship exists within my group. I also work closely with Account Managers, Project Managers, Development Leads and other Production Managers as well as customer groups and coordinate with other multi-disciplined teams, for problem resolution.
