Fabio Lamanna’s Summary

I'm working as Indipendent Civil Engineeer on several projects about road networks capacity and design in Italy. Moreover I'm currently developing some websites of Civil Enginnering Societies.
+++
My research activity is related to transportation network robustness by means of physical complex networks algorithms. I have developed a tool to analyse the vulnerability of such systems, under different spatio - temporal constraints.
+++
I'm looking to extend the approach to several situations; the model has been tested on Berlin Trasport Network with good results. The physical approach could be extended to urban flow nets, railway stations tracks layout, and more.

Fabio Lamanna’s Specialties:

Matlab, Octave codes. Web design (XHTML and CSS), Network Workbench Tool, Pajek, Transportation networks Efficiency. Railway Simulation. Opentrack. CAD. Traffic Modellization and Simulation.

Fabio Lamanna’s Experience

  • Transportation Networks Modeller

    Comune di Trieste

    (Government Agency; Government Administration industry)

    February 2009Present (10 months)

    I am now working on some urban transportation planning in Trieste modelling networks with VISUM and VISSIM.

  • Web Designer

    time=net.work

    (Civil Engineering industry)

    January 2009Present (11 months)

    I am developing the Studio Energetica (www.studioenergetica.com) and IE-Fluids (www.iefluids.com) websites.

  • Civil Transportation Engineer

    time=net.work

    (Civil Engineering industry)

    July 2008Present (1 year 5 months)

    Commercial vehicle flows assignment on road network of Azzano Decimo (Pordenone) (2009)
    +++
    Development of the Urban Transportation Network of Spilimbergo (Pordenone). Model and analyses of street and road networks (2009)
    +++
    Capacity Analysis of roads and intersections in Macerata (Marche, Italy). Commercial vehicles flows evaluation. Streets and Roundabouts design and capacity (July 2008)

  • Complex Networks Researcher

    time=net.work

    (Civil Engineering industry)

    April 2008Present (1 year 8 months)

    Development of my Ph.D. project "time=net.work" and website (www.timenetwork.org). The main purpose of the research project is to find out the relashionships between complex systems and transportation networks, as well as the most critical parts of the system according to topology and services. The first test case is the Berlin Transportation Network (current).

  • Web Designer

    Studio Pini

    (Graphic Design industry)

    September 2005Present (4 years 3 months)

    Development and Design of the Web site of Marzi and Sterni Civil Engineering Office in Trieste (www.marzisterni.it). HTML and CSS programming (June 2008).
    +++
    Programming and Technical Support to the Development of
    "studiopini.net" and "bhn.it" sites.

  • Transportation Networks Researcher

    University of Trieste

    (Educational Institution; Research industry)

    January 2005April 2008 (3 years 4 months)

    Modellization of several railway lines and timetables scenarios by means of the Microsimulation Software 'Opentrack'. Analyses of timetables on the same line and evaluation of the circulation in case of failures. Analysis of the railway node of Trieste and of the Merano - Malles railway line in Südtirol.
    +++
    Modellation and simulation of different hypothesis and scenarios of the Tramway network of Trieste using Opentrack. The microsimulation model captured both the existing line services and six different lines in the neighbors and in the city center. Results are able to define different strategies and economical scenarios of the expansion plans, related to fixed and forecast demand flows.

Fabio Lamanna’s Education

  • Università degli Studi di Trieste

    Ph.D. , Civil Engineering , 20052008

    Dissertation Thesis Title: "Time-related analysis of Small World and Scale-free Transportation Networks".

    Activities and Societies:
    Transportation Network Robustness. I've been developed 'time=network' code (www.timenetwork.org) in order to analyse the vulnerability of several transportation networks in case of threats.
  • Università degli Studi di Trieste

    M.Sc. , Civil Engineering , 19962004

    Dissertation title is "Development of a Railway Timetable of the Merano - Malles line in Italy".

    Activities and Societies:
    I've been in Merano for several weeks to get information and data to model the new railway line. The new timetable plan was successfully approvated by the STA (Service Provider) CEO.
