I have worked in the developmental disabilities field for 10 years. I have managed a large staff and programs. I don't mind getting dirty; meaning I wouldn't ask my staff to do anything I wouldn't do myself. I treat my staff with respect and expect the same in return. It is my job to know something about each one of the people who are so important to the company and who are in the homes of the families, these are the faces of our business.
I can be there to lend an ear and support with compassion, but when it comes down business I also have to support the company side as well. My staff resects the many hats I have to juggle. If they understand where you are coming from then they feel like their apart of the team. A good Manager will include his/her team and expalin to their staff why they madee the decisions they made, and how it affects each aspect of the business. It's not about the individual employee, it's a much larger scale than that. However, each indivudual employee brings individualism which makes up the team.
It is my goal to teach, to share, to embrace the people that work so hard. I was there once... just like them and I do not want them to have the LACK of training and knowledge that I had. I want to share what I learned, what I experienced, what I know... I want them to have ALL the tools they need to be successful. If they are successful at their jobs, then so am I.
We never stop learning, and there are always the teachable moments. I want to give to them my knowlege. I want to see them succeed.
I am a state certified instructor in Article 9, C.I.T., PS MAPP, Habilatition/Skill Building, and many other classes...
