He also managed to team who was the first to deploy a multi-protocol network (DECnet, bridging, IP and AppleTalk) in Belgium with Cisco routers running 8.3.

Eric worked on a European Commission funded project called ESPRIT BWN. He developped and simulated a new data link layer which pre-dates the FDDI.
He also developped an Ethernet interface (based on existing hardware) for a Digital TOPS-20 mainframe including device driver, kernel routines and XNS stack.
