I have many years experience in using user-centred design for very large content-driven websites... or making the complex simpler and easier to understand.
I have lots of experience in formulating strategies for improving conversion rates of ecommerce websites... or persuading more to buy more often.
I have demonstrated many times how to drive more people to a website (using SEO) and know how to keep them there (with usability and design).
I can program in Python (Django), Sql, HTML, CSS but prefer to leave that to the experts. I have a deep understanding of most open-source software and standards. I'm a fan of visual programming languages and Macs.

My role at the OTHER media was two-fold. On a day to day basis I was responsible for making the OTHER media's projects more profitable and more usable.
I was responsible for envisioning projects (the pitch) and information architecture (designing the layout and functionality of a site).
It was also my role to research new technologies and find appropriate uses for them for OTHER media's clients.

The DRML was a collaboration between LloydsTSB, Cable and Wireless, the OTHER media and design agency Rufus Leonard. It was my role to explore all new technologies looking for profitable avenues. I developed a number of WAP applications all of which were horrible to use.
The project closed after it was realised that the legalities of who owned whatever we may (or may not) have invented were just too difficult to overcome.

At ULTRALAB I initially worked as graphic and interaction designer on educational multimedia projects. Many of these projects were created using Hypercard, Supercard or Director.
We developed online learning communities before 1994 and the internet-as-we-know it with tools such as FirstClass.
After the creation of Mosaic, we developed our own innovative CMS tools and online document editors all of which encouraged active participation in the new medium of the internet rather than passive consumption.
After working with Sam Deane on Schools Online, I went on to develop Spinalot, a tool for building online communities which initially resulted in my working with Apple's Advanced Technology Group and lead to the creation of Oracle's Think.com.
