Balibones.com, now fallen into disarray, was my bread and butter while paying for a Bachelor’s degree from Bond University. I exported piercing jewelry from Indonesia into the United States. The jewelry was made from organic materials like stone and wood, and sold to piercing shops and major retail outlets like Hot Topic, Inc.
Balibones.com was sold to one of its primary customers, One Tribe Organics (http://www.onetribe.nu ) in December 2004.
To this day (February 27, 2006) the website shows up twice in the top three positions on Google for its primary search phrase: organic piercing jewelry. This is out of more than half a million websites. I cut my SEO teeth on Balibones.com while obtaining a degree in Journalism from an Australian university. These days my SEO skills and knowledge are much more advanced, but I often go back to the basics of good content and quality link-building to obtain great results. -

I was directly managed by co-owner, Sean Hayes. Although my time at Indonesia Export was brief – having been somewhat forced to return to the United States a week after September, 11 2001 – I learned a great deal about customer account management, import / export, and running an online business.
This inspired me to start my own import / export company, dealing with an entirely different type of product, which turned out to be a very successful venture that paid my way through college in Australia.
