Evan Berle’s Summary
Currently, I own and operate Service Montreal, a third-party computer service company which provides network consulting, hardware repairs and general telecommunications troubleshooting.
I am a very resourceful technician and administrator, self-taught in electronics, telecom and IT by virtue of a genuine love for technology and efficiency. I maintain an experimental corporate network at my home (complete with Active Directory, web and mail servers) where I try out new products and continue to update my knowledge and troubleshooting skills. I am fortunate in that I am often given free review copies of new products from Microsoft and other software companies as a result of my longtime hobby, appearing regularly as a technology expert on CJAD News/Talk Radio 800 here in Montreal. This gives me an edge in evaluating new technology as it emerges.
I have a long history of creating efficient and profitable service organizations from scratch, learning new skills as necessary. In my youth, I “paid my dues” working as a field service technician in industrial electronics, R&D researcher in telecom, and Service Manager in a large computer sales organization. With a partner, I founded my own service company which we sold (profitably!) to a friendly competitor after eight very successful years.
In my most recent position (Manager of Computer Technology Services at Marianopolis College), I transformed a small department originally responsible for just two computer labs into a true IT/IS department providing services across the campus.
Networks are my life and my goal is to keep busy with interesting projects, especially those involving very new technology.
