I just graduated from UNC—Chapel Hill with a Master's degree in Information Science from the top-ranked School of Information and Library Science (SILS).
While at UNC, I worked as an IT assistant for our college. Through my work and my classes, I gained experience doing desktop and server support, hardware and software troubleshooting for a variety of stakeholders, and got my hands into projects to learn more about web design, development, and information architecture. I also learned how to communicate with all kinds of folks about all kinds of technologies.
During my time at the UGA, I worked at WUOG 90.5fm first as a DJ, then as webmaster, Publications Director, and finally General Manager. As webmaster, I helped move our workflows online, including implementing a DJ playlist manager. As GM, I managed a staff of 300 volunteers, oversaw day-to-day operations and long-term plans for the station, served as a liaison between the station and the University, and represented the station on a panel at the 2006 College Music Journal Conference in New York.
My driving goal is to help people understand and feel comfortable with technology.
