Eclectic writer with over a decade of professional experience. Some career highlights include interviewing Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, meeting the United States "Drug Czar" John Walters, and hanging out with former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer.
Working as a writer at FOX 2 News was pretty exciting as well.
I'm most proud of the feature articles I've written for The Oakland Press and some of the ads I've done for HOUR Detroit.
Newspapers, magazines, marketing and promotions, literature for non-profits, self-help materials, teaching.

Responsible for writing news stories and finding corresponding footage for on-air news shows. Sounds a lot cooler than it was, because I had to be to work at 3:30 am!!!! I quit as soon as I had my son because there was no way I could handle being up all night with a baby and working those crazy hours! My favorite show I worked on was the weekend news with Charles Pugh and Deena Centofani. They were both hilarious and great, even at that god-awful time!

My first "real" job. I started as an intern and made my way up the ladder. I assigned, edited, and wrote articles for this locally-published, 4-color business publication. Circulation was 40K (ABC-audited) and I garnered lots of "professional" experience for myself. I believe the company was sold a few years back.

Bristoni's. Ah, the waitressing years. Really, I think my time in the service industry was a good segue into professional writing. The stress of a busy night is not that much different from that of a deadline. Additionally, taking orders uses a rather similar skill set to that of interviewing sources. You need stellar communication skills for both. And, if a patron is not pleased with the results, ultimately the server is responsible.
