Intern at Biz 3 Publicity
Greater Chicago Area
While matriculating (2004-2005) at Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, NY, I realized that my passion was the in the Music industry. I started working with an independent label as the assistant to the CEO. We traveled the Northeastern US and Canada talking to DJ’s, Radio personalities, club owners and A&R’s promoting their artist. After about a year I transferred to Columbia College in Chicago to earn a degree in Arts Entertainment Media Management in summer of 2005.
Working with local talent and matriculating at Columbia College Chicago in their music management degree program has provided me the opportunity to engage in the academic as well as the practical side of the talent management business. Columbia College’s faculty has instructed me in the area’s of club management, event planning, and the nuts bolts of the entertainment business. They have also allowed me the opportunity to visit Cannes, France for the Midem Music conference and be introduced to the international aspect of entertainment world. I completed my degree in May of 2009.
My work with local talent has afforded me practical experience: booking events, negotiating contracts, promoting events and managing artist from different genres. I have used all these skills in starting my own company—Midas Media Management. In Managing my own business, I have had to teach myself a number of new skills also. Mastering social networks (MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, etc) and learning programs like iMovie, I have been able to promote my clientele and increase brand awareness of my company.
