Eric Scheid’s Summary

A respected leader in Australia's Information Architecture community with over 20 years of experience in technology.

As a passionate and experienced consulting IA myself, I use my expertise to provide strategy and solutions to my clients that exceed their requirements and satisfy the needs of their users.

I give back to the IA Community and am responsible for initiatives including IaWiki.net, IA-Peers and Oz-IA (see below). Through these events I have raised the awareness of information architecture within the wider web industry.

I do use technology as an enabler, and while I can code ... I don't do it for work anymore.

I am available to consult on large or small projects.

Eric Scheid’s Specialties:

Consulting: extracting and understanding stakeholder requirements, developing IA strategy and project plan appropriate to project requirements and budget, mentoring and assisting in developing your in house IA/UCD culture.

Information Architecture: wireframes, content inventories, site flows, site maps, user research, navigation design, content categories/taxonomies, functional specs, persona and scenario development, traffic log analysis.

Eric Scheid’s Experience

  • Conference Organiser

    Oz-IA Conference

    (Internet industry)

    June 2006Present (3 years 2 months)

I organise Australia's premier Information Architecture conference and retreat. This is a hugely satisfying activity for me, well worth the intense effort involved.

The underlying philosophy and aim of the conference is to bring together IA practitioners from across Australia, providing opportunities career development in the fundamentals, awareness of work being done in new frontiers, and networking opportunities with their peers.

So far there have case study presentations, detailed how-to sessions, deep dives into niche subjects, and general 'where are we going' discussions. We also organised group participation and networking sessions/events.

In 2008 we'll be expanding the program with workshop sessions, and finetuning the format to provide greater opportunities for networking with your peers.

    http://www.oz-ia.org/2008/ -- we'll be doing this again

  • Event Organiser

    March 2002Present (7 years 5 months)

Sydney IA-Peers is an informal industry networking event for Information Architects and other professionals interested in information architecture.

I seed conversations, I promote the group, I distribute invitations, and handle the venue. Other than that, everyone else just shows up and we have a good time. The Oz-IA Conference & Retreat is one spin off of the IA-Peers.
