1989 through 1994: Development in a variety of 4GL and 3GL languages in an SI on bespoke projects - typically 1 year + and 15+ developers. Project Managed smaller projects and team lead on larger projects. Majority of projects were delivered on Unix using C and with Ingres or Sybase. Delivered solutions into Finance, Manufacturing, Government.
1995-1996: Development of multi-user LOB applications running on Microsot Windows using VB, SQLWindows, Powerbuilder and targeting SQLBase, Access, SQL Server. These projects were shorter and smaller - 6 month and 5 developers.
1996-2008: Application Architect advising early adopters on the appropriate use of beta technologies from Microsoft. This involved a spectrum of activities - includes coding, creation and running of scalability labs, delivery at many large briefings, many CTO level meetings, architectural workshops and programme management. Main industry focus was Finanical Services.
2008-: Developer Evangelist - evangelising to developers :-)
Strong understanding of Microsofts server side technologies for application development - COM+ through to .NET 3.5, IIS7 and SQL Server 2008. Experience spans architectural work through to coding in C# and Visual Basic .NET. Broad understanding of technologies, methodologies and industry trends.
