I'm a writer and analyst producing documentation, analysis, and software as a team member and as a manager in both traditional and Agile environments. I have senior management experience working with board executives, but lead by rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty.
►Does your documentation add real value to your products and services?
As an experienced senior writer, I'm fully aware that any documentation a company provides should support meeting the end-user's product expectations and goals. Documentation is not a separate, disconnected function but an integral part of the product. I start and stop every project from the end-user's vantage point: What are their product expectations and goals? Were they achieved? How can we make sure they are satisfied? Continually asking these questions and challenging your product and product documentation from the end-user's vantage point allows you to refine your product to meet and even exceed the end-user's expectations.
You cannot recapture that initial impression once your product is in the field, so you must be your product's harshest critic and accept that change is an opportunity and not a threat. Developing great documentation provides valuable product insight in order to make sure your product or service is customer ready.
