Background

Summary

I work as an Agile coach and consultant, helping companies and teams develop products more effectively. Whether you're at the start of transforming to Agile and need some training or guidance, or you're already established and in need of support, I can help.

I work with Scrum Teams to help them understand Scrum and Agile, work more collaboratively and deliver value at a sustainable pace. I work with Scrum Masters to develop their facilitation skills and help them understand and improve team dynamic. With Product Owners, I can show them how to balance a close relationship with the team and stakeholders, and help them with planning, managing, visualising and communicating a backlog. I work with team leaders, managers, directors, suppliers and clients to help them understand the principles of working in an Agile environment, how they fit in, and what to expect.

I'm a CSP (Certified Scrum Professional), CSM (Certified Scrum Master), CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) and APMP (Association of Project Management Practitioner). I worked with the Scrum Alliance as an SME (subject matter expert) to help develop the new CSP standards in 2011, and won "Best Agile Newcomer" in the Agile Awards UK 2012

Fundamentally, working and succeeding in an Agile environment relies on people working together and committed to deliver something of value. By our very nature, people are diverse and quirky, and come with different motivations and preconceptions. We are all individuals <--insert Monty Python gag here--> and need to be treated and communicated with as such. Scrum / Agile, is not a set of meetings or processes which if followed will always succeed. It's about developing a culture and mind-set, and supporting individuals and teams in a way which allows them to deliver the best they possibly can. You need a tailored, adaptive approach to make it work and to inspire and bring out the best in the people involved. That’s where I can help.
