I am the owner/founder of Elder Options of Texas, an Internet site featuring products and services for adults 55+ and their elder loved ones. What makes the site so unique is that it caters to a very 'niche' market... TEXANS.
The Texas aging population is growing! According to the US Census Bureau more than 2.3 million Texans, aged 65 or older in 2006, accounted for 9.9 percent of the state's population. That share is expected to rise to 11.7 percent of the total by 2015.
Additionally, the Texas baby boomer population (those age 55 - 64) totals over 5.6 million or about 28 percent of the total Texas population. Texas is also the second most popular retirement state with native Texans accounting for one-fifth of retirees returning to Texas.
