Lead the development and put into production the new web site for UniProt, a major life sciences database (J2EE, Lucene, Spring, Struts, SOAP, REST, XML, JavaScript, AJAX). Created the official RDF distribution of UniProt. Prototyped a database for efficient storage and retrieval of large quantities of RDF data (on top of MySQL) and evaluated the RDF support in Oracle 11g. Set up a data mart for answering questions about how people access the organization's services as well as detecting problems and trends (PostgreSQL). Participated in the development of applications for managing ontologies for UniProt (J2EE, Struts, Hibernate). Guided the organization and its collaborators through the adoption of a Creative Commons license for all distributed data. Introduced collaboration technologies such as a wiki (Confluence), issue tracker (Jira) and instant messaging (Skype). Investigated opportunities to integrate data with external services such as Google Base and A9 etc.
