I specialize in residential real estate. It's a full-time job. And, that's all I do. Well, ok, I do blog too...but generally about things of interest in the real estate area.
I'm now considered a "senior" agent and have mentored and guided many younger agents. Some made it; many did not. Most people think that this is an easy job. Not so. We, good agents, may make it seem that way. But, this is a very difficult career to stay in for a long time.
In my experience, the best agents all had former teaching experience and used those skills to communicate with other agents and their clients.
I've won just about every award that our companies offered and completed a class last fall that will help me with my aging clients as well. So now, it's official: Senior Residential Specialist. Should be interesting as we're all getting older!
I've specialized in several areas.
A) Working with relocating buyers. My blog gives them an idea of what our area is like.
B) Working with move-up buyers. And, in this market, that's tricky!
C) Working with residential sellers. How? By advising and constructing a strategic plan that ends with a sale.

I work with many relocating buyers and advise them thorough out their home purchase and beyond.
I also work with first-time buyers and with move-up buyers.
I also work with sellers in the Naperville-Downers Grove area and have been in this field since 1976.
You can read my testimonials on my websites: MoveUPtoNaperville.com and EileenLandau.com
Prior to going into real estate I was a teacher.

I had my own real estate company for several years and had a wonderful assistant, Delphine. When she decided that she was tired of real estate (and she had been with me for 10 years), I decided to go with John Veneris' office.
I've sold homes in Naperville, Aurora, Woodridge, Lisle, Downers Grove and in several towns in Will county.
At this point in time (2008) I've sold way over 800 homes, and have seen almost everything! From interest rates that climbed to 18% to rates that fell to just below 5%; to conventional mortgages to contract for deed; worked with first-time buyers to relocating buyers to empty nesters moving to retirement communities.

I was one of the first agents to join this "new" company. In fact, they didn't have a balloon logo when I joined. We were a small office of about 12 agents, but we did mega business.
And, we had to get business on our own. Those of us who started at that office paved the way for those who followed. And, today, I think that Re/Max may be the largest real estate company in the United States.

I was hired to work for Ruby, who was an ego centric man and required deft handling. During the time I worked there Ruby was demoted. Gone was the corner office and all the prestigious benes. Instead, a large office with outside windows near the elevator was his assigned spot.
My previous experience in working with socially maladjusted children really came in handy.

We moved to the Manhattan area and as there were no teaching jobs available, I ended up working in the Tribune building at 2nd and 42nd Street.
The place was a mad-house as they were just putting in place an IS&R (Internal search and retriveval system). One of the first computerized systems. The older reporters had a devil of a time trying to learn how to use the machines. There were huge IBM main frames that required their own rooms with constant temperatures and a man in a white lab coat who would take their temperature on an hourly basis!
My Blackberry and I-phone have more power today then this monster system.

Navy Pier was the undergraduate location of the U of Illinois. And, we were lucky as there were NO student assistants teaching our classes! We were also able to tour the ships that came into port on the south side of the pier. Those Russian sailors would flirt and smile!

We're planning our Reunion...the BIG 5-0 for October 10, 2009.
I've worked on all of our reunions, and thanks to the internet we've been able to find most of our class.
