    Introduction:

    ‘Rent-ur-toy.ie’, is a toy rental internet website which allows parents and relatives alike with a hassle free way to provide children with all the toys and games they desire. In return for a monthly subscription, members can choose to rent a number of different toys and games per month from the ‘Rent-ur-toy’ website. There is a variety of membership plans (ranging from ‘Lil’-Players’ to ‘Toy Freaks’) for customers to choose from.

    Market Opportunity:

    According to Datamonitor (2009), the Global Toys and Games market generated overall revenues of $60.8 billion in 2008. With such high global revenue generated, the toys and games market can be seen as a highly attractive industry for new businesses to enter. It is anticipated that the global toys and games industry will continue to grow; Datamonitor (2009) states that the projected market value of the toys and games industry will grow to $69.1 billion by the end of 2013 (see Appendix 3).

    The prime target market of ‘Rent-ur-toy’ will consist of parents of children aged 0 to 12, family friends and close relatives to children, i.e. aunts, uncles, grandparents and godparents. As a result, this target market comprises of almost half the population of Ireland, with 2,512,536 people over the age of 30 living in Ireland. (Ages and Marital Status [online]) This shows positive market opportunities for ‘Rent-ur-toy’ as there is such a significant target base for which ‘Rent-ur-toy’ can market to. As the concept of ‘Rent-ur-toy’ is a completely new idea to the Irish and European market we therefore feel this will differentiate us from the competition in the marketplace.
