My primary goal is to make a living discussing important issues and ideas online.
I spend my professional time as a North Carolina-based vice president for a global communications and public affairs firm based in Washington DC. I write a column called "Living Locally, Working Globally" for Business Lexington, and I contribute blog posts and podcasts for Earth & Industry.
I have managed a pediatrics department in a large urban hospital, served as an aide to a United States Senator, and acted as executive director and spokesman for a statewide business advocacy organization. As a legislative assistant, I worked extensively on legislation regarding access to affordable medicines for poor countries, and on a proposal that would provide federal support for small business incubators with ties to academia. I spend a significant portion of my time at work reaching out to bloggers and developing online outreach strategies for corporate clients. I also have experience in crisis and litigation communications. I have guest lectured at American University, The University of Georgia, The University of Kentucky School of Law, and The University of Maryland. I graduated from Northeastern University and received the Cooperative Education Award. I also studied at Boston University Graduate School of Management.
