The Jazz for Justice Project is an initiative created in 2006 to ‘help end the suffering in war-torn northern Uganda, and explore music and art activism as a tool of social healing and transformation’. We organize concerts in the U.S. to raise money for Ugandan education partners, musicians promoting peace, and other art-related projects in Uganda. We make site visits and meet with local leaders in northern Uganda in order to improve the project's efficacy.
I am currently working to create and put into action organizational plans for a future on-the-ground incarnation of the project. It will concentrate on an extra-curricular arts program to be taken to schools in northern Uganda, with a psycho-social and community development emphasis.
