I was lucky to enter the Ruby on Rails field when it was very young. I've now spent almost four years working on every aspect of Rails projects. I'm an expert at project management, backend development, system setup, deployment, and scaling.
If I had to choose three things that best define me and the work I do, they would be:
* Passion - I love Ruby, Rails, and web development. I read as much as I can about everything going on in the community and I enjoy contributing as much as possible. Rails isn't the solution to every problem but it does a very good job at many things, and with an expert at the wheel there is nothing out there more efficient and more powerful.
* High-velocity - The business world moves fast and I like to keep up. This means agile development, release-early, refactoring, fast prototyping, and the glue that keeps such a constantly changing project running: Test Driven Development. I'm not big on subscribing to buzzwords but through years of experience I have learned that TDD is the best method for ensuring a stable and robust system while maintaining high-velocity change.
* I'm a sponge - This means tracking the latest, upcoming, or emerging technologies, services, and methodologies. I play with, read, and learn about anything that looks promising. What I find may not necessarily be the answer, be ready for primetime, or even work. But the only way to know is to keep track and keep digging.
