I am a licensed professional engineer in Missouri, Nevada, and Texas, have a Diplomate of Water Resources Engineering, and am a Certified Floodplain Manager. My experience spans more than 30 years working on civil engineering, hydraulics, and hydrologic projects. While at Texas Tech University, I served as chair of the graduate committee of about 30 students and served as a second reader on many others. I was the principal investigator on many projects with research expenditures exceeding $5M and financially supporting many colleagues and students. Much of my work is presented in publications, including refereed journal articles, reports, conference papers, and formal presentations. I remain active in the research community and intend to remain active for the remainder of my professional career.
Surface-water hydrology, hydraulics of closed conduits and open channels, flood studies, hydrologic research including statistical analyses of datasets, and presentation of research results.
For years I maintained the literate programming FAQ. Although I do little programming anymore (no time), I maintain a strong interest in using literate programming tools for software development. I'm currently using to use the R system (open source) for statistical analyses.
