I build web things. Both design and technology stir my heart, but lately I've been doing mostly front-end development.
I'm well versed in building PHP, Rails and Ajax web applications, but I also care about typography and the importance of good copy editing.

I've been "semi-unofficially" building custom software for the Travel section of the New York Times website. Mainly this consists of simple, self-contained tools that can work with the existing back-end system. I'm on payroll as a freelancer, but I have been working closely with editors and project managers to build out tools in a way that fulfills unmet needs, and treads lightly within the bureaucracy of "official" software development.
