The 'GeoFair Project'
October 2013 – Present (1 year)
Every October Rotarians are encouraged to focus their attention on Vocational Service. October is an opportunity to begin year-long vocational service activities - volunteering one’s vocational talents to assist in building more sustainable and resilient communities; enduring communities.
The GeoFair Project’ is one to which I have made a commitment to contribute. Involvement in the Project is open to all Rotarians and other like-minded individuals who share similar views on the ideals of service.
Rotary is a wonderful service organization in the process of re- energizing itself as it moves to engage younger people, supported by the older ones amongst us with a young in spirit mindset, and has embarked upon a three year Pilot program to develop a format for an “Innovative and Flexible Rotary Club”. The pilot program will end in June 2014 and we await the results with keen interest –
Meanwhile an expanding group of us have a ‘Skunk Works’ underway to incubate and launch the ‘GeoFair Project’ - (think Lockheed & talk to Google if it is a term with which you are unfamiliar :-).
The project is based on the same premise for the Rotary Pilot referred to above which is:
“Innovative and flexible Rotary clubs are fun, dynamic, diverse, resilient, tolerant, and interested in trying new things, proactive, member driven, results oriented, resourceful, inspirational, and
The project, a unique international fundraiser for local communities, is due to be launched in October 2014 and is being developed in partnership with the North Country Resource, Conservation and Development Council (RC&D). If you would like to find out more about what’s afoot and explore possible involvement - please drop me a note inviting me to 'LinkUp' with you.
And yes, – we’ll be MIFing it (making it fun).
Here's to Lighting up Rotary : One Club, One Project @ a time - together!
Cheers, YIR, John

The MulgaMail Group
January 2009 – Present (5 years 9 months)
The Mulga Mail Group is a Destination Marketing Services Company.
We are currently involved in an exciting venture designed to sell Downunder as a Destination for leisure travelers: New Zealand, Australia, and the countries of the South Pacific -- a NEW way through a simply unique Campaign.
Bringing Back the Thrill
Long ago, the world was a patchwork of unmarked lands and irresistible unknowns. Adventure lurked beyond the edges of every map. Travel was a thrill.
But then things went terribly wrong: travel became a formula. And when that happened, we lost our way. We decided that the Caribbean and Venice is for lovers and that’s just the way things are. We began retracing one another’s steps. We started repeating and we stopped discovering.
What have we lost?
The goose bumps. The butterflies. The chills. We want them back. And so do our clients.
With that vision in mind, in order to reinvigorate how our industry thinks about travel Downunder - no more formulas, we decided.
We took a familiar staple, cruising & small group - starting with 2! - tours and set things wildly off-course: no more of the same old staid Caribbean circuit. We pointed our ships and small buses south, to more unusual destinations: Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific Islands. And with fresh eyes, we started discovering once again.
Our Campaign and our GeWi Pass will redefine what travelling Downunder can be...
Let’s bring back the thrill.
