I have spent the last 15 years in the technology sector. I began in sales positions and took the leap into the start up world in 1999.
That leap unleashed a passion for working with small technology companies and I went on to serve in key strategic roles with 2 more start ups through 2007.
During my last tenure as VP of Business Development, I executed "geographic arbitrage." That is, I moved from the high priced coast of Southern California to the Midwest to work remotely. The economics of success and the ease of "life operations" are tilted drastically in favor of the individual in Des Moines, Iowa compared to LA.
This move gave me the freedom to build my business network and begin to understand the power and leverage that social media can provide.
In 2007, I took the leap and began building my own destiny. I've leveraged the vast technology resources and expertise here in Iowa to create some great products and services that are helping small and medium sized companies increase their exposure on the web and turn more lookers...into buyers.

The Mitchell Group LLC is the owner and operator of my consulting business, products, and services including createWOWmedia and RentalMetrics.
createWOWmedia offers brand amplification services to small and medium businesses through multimedia. We help companies become more findable on the web through creative use of video, custom music, imagery, and through our membership software platform called Interactive LE.
RentalMetrics is a subscription based business improvement consulting service that serves the heavy equipment rental and construction sectors. Key learning modules include "Maximizing the ROI from technology solution investments" and "Business Process Anaylsis 101"

I joined upgradebase with a contract to write a business plan. Within 60 days, the company had received $1 million in venture capital funding. Acting as 1/3 of the management team, I wore many hats including business development, marketing, PR, communications, and corporate leadership. The company grew from a couple people to 25 domestic and 75 international employees. upgradebase was purchased by CNET Networks in 2002 and I did not stay on.
