Douglas Despres' Summary
Douglas Despres is a passionate photographer based out of the San Francisco Bay area. His focus draws upon the documentary perspective, and many of his commissions involve people in either movement and celebration, or stillness and strength. His commissions have won international awards and been published in magazines, newspapers, and music albums. His personal and documentary work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, and is collected both public and privately throughout the United States.
Assignments occur primarily throughout the bay area, but Doug's commissions also take him around the country, and occasionally overseas. His latest far flung commission was a destination wedding in Thailand, and he will be photographing in Texas, Kuaui, and Seoul so far in 2014.
Bringing an intense passion for the art of photography, Doug’s images reflect a deep understanding of the craft, as well as the personalities of his subjects. He adores the process of film photography, and revels in the poetic tones found in black and white. Chiaroscuro is his preferred lighting style, and he welcomes the challenge of capturing multiple layers of movement within his images.
Doug seeks inspiration. He strives for timeless classics within his imagery, and welcomes clients searching for the same.
Specialties: Producing outstanding photographic quality on a consistent basis to individuals and organizations. Keeping a low profile while moving to anticipate the best moments from the best positions in the best light. Able to direct a single subject or large group into the desired composition, while keeping them entertained. Ability to put many at ease in front of the camera; from a migrant field worker or music centerfold to the former first lady of the United States.
