StayOnline is the premiere provider of wireless internet access solutions for the hospitality/lodging industry. I am responsible for maintaining a large Perl application written around the HTML::Mason framework and the Class::DBI database abstraction library. This application provides a web portal which controls authentication and authorization controls which guests must use in order to gain access to the internet.
Major projects included leading a team effort to refactor the portal rendering code in order to better separate the business and display logic (using an MVC design). This gave us a very flexible system in which we can easily create new templates to provide customized functionality for specific customer requirements. The system is hierarchical, and functionality/look-and-feel can be overridden by a hotel chain as a whole, or down at the level of individual sites within a chain.
