Human Factors Engineer at Citi
Cincinnati Area
My greatest hope is to ultimately be at a company that values my expertise in usability, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), interface design, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and web design and development, and my expertise in creating multi-tiered online websites and applications with MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server database backends.
It always puzzles me why companies are seemingly so eager to throw away millions of dollars on faulty technology, bad interfaces, slow, cumbersome, or plain poorly coded and designed websites and online applications.
My prime goal is to provide design that is beyond excellent, and to develop code that is lean, and perfect in its execution.
It seems as though Citi may be a company that does in fact appreciate my talents and experience.

Strange place - strangely adversarial competitive culture between employees and departments. I couldn't figure out why in the year I was there, but I was glad to get out. Unsupportive supervisors, too-scared-to-move managers.
My first week there, I was told by a long-time executive: "Keep your head down, your back to the wall, don't rock the boat - collect your pay, go home, and be glad you have a job. This company exists as a hobby for a bored rich guy."
I can't say all that is true, but it seemed like at least some of it was.

This was another company I had the pleasure to work at - Getting to code in ColdFusion, XML, DHTML, and JavaScript, working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the greatest minds I have ever met.
A few stand out as beyond exceptional:
- Lyle Fernquist, whom I refer to as "Big Daddy SQL" a real genius in every sense of the word.
- Jim Summer, a true SEO genius from whom I learned a LOT.
- Hondo Burney, a true scientist.
- Others like Israel, Ravi, Cliff, Jeff, and......
