I was contracted as part of a team, by the Commission on Electronic Voting, to test the proposed Nedap/Powervote electronic voting system that was to be introduced for Irish elections. In this role I performed black box testing on the counting software and an investigation of potential vulnerabilities of the system. Our testing demonstrated flaws both in the counting software and in the overall system and were important contributions to the commission’s final report to the government.
