Social Essayist, Media Comentator/Critic, Investigative Business Blogger & Artist Agent
United States
An award-winning former journalist as well as former media relations strategist and ever the entrepreneur, I'm the savvy publicist turned savvy social essayist, media commentator and critic and investigative business blogger. After years of pursuing others' interests, I'm actively pursuing my own and my family's through endeavors like my preserving my father's art world legacy and writing what, when and how I want.
Accordingly, I've launched three blogs--"In Polite Company", "The Media Maven" and "i-Business Informer".
On "In Polite Company", you'll read my social essays confronting issues we're taught to avoid 'in polite company'. As an equal opportunity critic on issues of race, politics, gender, religion, money, class, I address subjects that we still 'tip toe around' in America. Taking up the gauntlet that those issues present, this "Post Integration Generation", "Post-Feminist Generation" member will go places on social issues where only the most powerful angels don't fear to tread. I will express my worldview and document my experiences here much the way my father did through his art.
"From The Savvy Publicist to Media Critic…A Recovering Publicist Speaks" aptly describes "The Media Maven", my media commentary and criticism blog. Rather than shrieking in outrage at the television, radio or at the printed words before me, I launched this blog to express my increasing media disdain. Like "In Polite Company", I will say what others won't or cover what others may in my own inimitable manner.
Finally, "i-Business Informer", my investigative business and small business development blog, will be my almost "strictly business" blog. Because it's my blog and I'm not beholden to other interests, I will break business news (including fraud and malfeasance) and inform readers of new business concepts the way I've always wanted to but couldn't get others to pay me to do.
Expect my blogs often will be irreverent but hardly irrelevant and never dull.
Blogging on social, legal, business (investigative reporting on fraud, malfeasance; breaking business news) and media issues; maintaining my involvement in the fine art world by representing my father, internationally renowned visual activist artist, Prof. Em. Dana C. Chandler, Jr. Interests include art, photography, theater, dance, reading, technology and serving others through my work.

October 2009 — Present (6 months)
During the past year, some considerable life changes have transformed my body, mind and life. They've forced me to rethink my priorities and direction--given me a fresh perspective and the desire to pursue only work I love. I've decided that, other than representing my father's interests as his artist agent, neither of my previous "traditional" media careers will be my life's work. Instead, as always, I'm taking an unconventional direction.
Through my blogs and work with my father, I've decided to pick up that baton being handed to me by his generation--the Civil Rights Generation--and make my own mark as what I call "the Integration Generation". We are the multiracial generation that, with our parents' generations guidance and own kids' support, made "President Barack Obama" a reality.
But, I also belong to the "post-feminism" generation in which women, mostly under age 50, say, "We sure can do it all--we just don't want to do it all at once and "all" may not mean to us what feminism told us it should." There's much yet to do on both fronts and I will use my writing--and other activities--to continue the social revolution this country has undergone in my lifetime and the global evolution the world has seen in my son's.
So, instead of embracing what I "should" do, I'm doing what I want to do. I want to write from my heart and my head. Accordingly, I've launched three blogs--"In Polite Company", "The Media Maven" and "i-Business Informer". I am now a social essayist, media commentator/critic and investigative business blogger. In other words, I'm writing on my own terms, saying what I want, when I want without soliciting validation through paid assignments for and publication by traditional national media.
Intrigued? Look for more on my blogs and elsewhere on social media and, welcome to my new media renaissance. It won't be dull.

This blog took the reader along on my journey as a journalist to a sophisticated understanding of the exponentially-growing world of social media.
As I as gained understanding of how the technology is used to build business and professional relationships and how to maximize social media to grow enterprises and advance careers from a journalist's perspective, the reader benefited from my experience as a blogged about it, usually by telling other people's stories about social media successes.
But, I also talked about my own and others' social media failures because with relationships--which should always be the focus of using social media technology, not the technology--come missteps and they're as important to discuss (as well as how to avoid them) as successes. In order to create true community, I actively encouraged user participation and interact directly with my readers.
I will do the same with my new blog, Getting Publicity Savvy.
