Dirk Dixon’s Summary

I graduated from Grand View College in 1995 with a Bachelors of Business Administration. I began working that same year at Farm Bureau Financial and later at New England Financial before arriving to Baker & Associates, LLP. In addition, I also earned Accredited Tax Advisor status (ATA) and the Accredited Business Accountant (ABA) with the National Society of Accountants as well as being a member with the Iowa Society of Licensed Public Accountants and the Accountants Association of Iowa. I am an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service.

I am well acquainted and experienced in many tax planning issues there are a few particulars that set me apart from his competitors. I specialize at helping businesses and people realize tax savings through different programs. By proactively scouring client’s circumstances he looks for every possible black letter deduction in their tax situations. I really enjoy helping the self-employed and finding deductions that are legal, but often overlooked. Furthermore, I find legitimate ways to minimize my client’s capital gains tax liability through the selective realization of gains and losses.

I have written tax planning articles in publications like “The Register” and I also volunteers with the State of Iowa at the Low Income Taxpayer Clinics to help taxpayers involved in controversies with the IRS or educating individuals about their tax rights and responsibilities. As well as volunteering as a coach for the West Des Moines Soccer Club.
