The overall purpose of my work is to contribute to the creation of innovative solutions that increase people’s quality of life. I am an Interaction Designer involved in both commercial design activities and applied design research. My main interest lies in combining my industrial design background, interface design and research skills, in the development of new product interfaces and interaction styles. Before discovering the field of Interaction Design, I worked as an Industrial Designer in Colombia and Spain, mainly with the design of furniture, interiors for commercial spaces and exhibitions.
My work includes a combination of both methodological and exploratory components. I have a special interest in the area of Inclusive Design and as a Colombian living in Europe I have developed a fascination in how socio-cultural issues influence design and technology.
Over the last 9 years I have worked as project leader and team member in a number of projects within different industries, such as medical equipment, telecommunications, personal care, food and packaging, learning technologies, financial services, information in public environments, toys, sports and vehicle and tool manufacturing.
I have been involved in projects with national and international clients including Gillette/P&G, Novartis, PepsiCo, Scandinavian Airlines, Brio, Gambro, Chicago Pneumatics and one of the global leading companies in telecommunications, amongst others. In research I have work in projects funded by the EU, Vinnova, and Umeå Kommun, and collaborated with the MIT Media Lab Europe (Ireland) and the Mads Clausen Institute (Denmark), amongst others. I regularly lecture at international design schools and conferences.
