Nicholas Simms’s Summary

I have worked in the internet industry for over 10 years now. I've worked on the small to the very large budget projects. In 1998 I took on the task of learning how to develop websites in basic HTML and have moved up to programming in perl, php and mySQL on dedicated servers. From open source programming I moved over to using more of the Microsoft tools like asp.net using C# and VB with MSSQL on dedicated servers. I have used many of the tools used on the internet and programmed for most platforms and with most mediums like flash and silverlight. My tools at the moment are asp.net C# or VB, MSSQL and everything that come with it. Saying that I still get involved with PHP / MySQL projects and Flash development.

Additional to the design and programming of web sites I have done lots of research and development in the search engine optimisation and online advertising trends.

Other interests and development are Bluetooth. I own the www.ad2hand.co.uk site and develop a Windows based .net Bluetooth application that sends out messages to mobile devices using bluetooth. I have started developing a quick java-me bluetooth application that will send out bluetooth automated messages from your mobile phone as well.

I started working at Portfolio in January 2000 and I still work there. Portfolio has gone from a very small company to an international success working with the likes of Timberland. I started working there as a web developer and built up sites from the layouts presented by the graphic designers. Most of my time now is taken up programming and testing very large budget sites.
