Itamar Medeiros, from Brazil, currently lives in Shanghai (China), where he works as User Experience (UX) Design Manager of Geospatial Platform and Server Products of the Infrastructure Modeling Product Line at Autodesk®, and helps promote Interaction Design as the local coordinator for the Interaction Design Association (IxDA).
Working in the Information Technology industry since 1998, Itamar Medeiros has developed several websites and interactive media campaigns, both as art director and, later, as creative director for several new media agencies in Pernambuco, Brazil. As an Information Design specialist, served a two-year term as member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Society of Information Design, lead the Design Research team of the Hypermedia Lab at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, and held a lecturing position as Assistant Program Director of the Visual Communication Department at Raffles Design Institute, Shanghai.
Since 2001 has been teaching on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Hypermedia in Design and Information Systems undergraduate programs, as well in some graduate studies departments.

The Interaction Design Association (IxDA) is an international non-profit organization with a mission to advance the discipline of Interaction Design. We do this by creating platforms for our members to gather on, such as a 10,000+ member discussion list, annual conferences and local events. As local coordinator for Shanghai, I help the community organize events and facilitate face-to-face meetings that provide a platform of information/knowledge sharing, as well as networking opportunities.
