Derek Warner is a level designer Zipper Interactive, a division of Sony Computer Entertainment of America. Derek has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Video Game Art and Design from The Art Institute of Phoenix where he designed Copperhead: Retaliation, a mod for dungeon siege. Copperhead was nominated for mod of the year from Gamespy.com.
He started in the game industry at Sierra Entertainment in Bellevue Washington in 2003 as an environmental artist, where he worked on Special Forces, a game that was later canceled. During the project he also designed the multiplayer component of the game along with creating all the multiplayer levels.
In 2004 he headed off to Sydney Australia to work for a startup company called Perception, working as a level designer on Stargate SG-1: The Alliance. The game was later canceled.
In 2005 he was hired as a level designer at Ubisoft Montreal. At Ubisoft he created the second level, Calypso Casino, of Rainbow Six: Vegas. Rainbow Six: Vegas shipped in November 20th, 2006.
In 2006 Derek was hired as a level designer at Zipper Interactive which he currently resides. He was the multiplayer designer on Socom: Combined Assault, designed all the multiplayer levels for the game. Currently he works as a level designer on the newly announced project, MAG: Massive Action game that was announced during the Sony keynote at E3 2008.
