Experienced in starting companies, creating something out of nothing, technology, life, the universe and everything.

Since I've been doing startups for the last ten years, I've had a hand in practically all aspects of business, so I'm kind of hard to pigeonhole. I'm comfortable working in business development, sales, web development (including writing code), marketing (esp. Internet), strategy, and even finance & accounting.

Long term I also am looking for business opportunities in China, especially Shanghai. I expect to spend a few months there every year for the foreseeable future.

Derek Scruggs’s Specialties:

All things online marketing - web sites, email marketing, search engines, social networking etc. I also have expert programming skills with PHP/MySQL. I've been neck-deep in Drupal since 2005.

I also have training in the Sandler sales method. While I wouldn't say I'm a sales superstar, I would say I'm better than average at getting prospects to tell me their real problems so I can offer a solution that fits their needs. In other words, I generally throw out the PowerPoint and just listen.
