M. Deniz OKTAR’s Summary

Deniz is an entrepreneur and a computer engineer. He started his career as a columnist at PC Magazine while he was 15. First company he founded was based on the idea of allocating university students, to earn their stipends, by wearing advertisement printed T-shirts. Since 2004, each year, 350+ students in Turkey have been involved in this project: ReklamGiy. His first commercial IT project was Botego, a chat-bot agent firm aimed at producing intelligent software agents to be used in many fields including support centers. In 2006, he took a recess from his education and worked on marketing field as a strategic planner and campaign/product developer for 1.5 years. The first steps of his current business, iletken were taken at that time when a local internet media company asked for an innovative product from him to design. In 2008, iletken had been chosen as the 3rd best recommender application at ACM RecSys08. Now he is the founder of iletken recommender systems. For fun: When he was a student, he spent 2 months working on television sector as the presenter & producer of a travel guide TV program with 65 episodes.
