The ASUC is the one and only completely autonomous university student government in the U.S. since 1887 and it was truly a privilege for me to serve as its Senate's PR Director for two consecutive terms.

During my appointment, I initiated an effort to bring together various entities from university administration, student government, and student groups to modernize UC Berkeley's technology infrastructure, promote secure Web 2.0 communications systems, and develop an online, campus-wide communications network. While these initiatives are still works in progress to-date, the recent collaboration have yielded increased efficiency and vision for the University.

To date, Team HBV is a self-sustaining 501(c)3 nonprofit that has outreached to over 10,000 people in the SF Bay Area and has partnered with numerous local hospitals and nonprofits to address the high incidence of hepatitis B and liver cancer among ethnic minorities.

Two notable accomplishments from our chapter are:

    (1) May 2005 LIVERight 5K Run/Walk: We led the event's marketing effort, recruiting over 300 participants and raising over $50,000 for the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University.

    (2) Dec. 2007 Rock the Jade Charity Fashion Show: In less than a month timeframe, we were able to organize the event during Berkeley's final exam week that resulted in 200+ participants, 20+ sponsors, keynote speech by CA Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, and $2,500 raised for SF Hep B Free.
