2004 Finalist, Mars Society Kepler Design Contest, Commercial Division:
Contributing member to Team Enterprise - an independent research team for future Mars Earth Return Vehicle (ERV) design. Primary responsibilities were in design of Navigation and Attitude Control and Commanding and Data Handling Subsystems, including power and weight estimates, system specification and architectural design, and analysis of COTS products. Supported design contributor for Infrastructure and Environmental Control Subsystem by designing the electronics platform supporting I&EC. Team Enterprise advanced as far as international finals in professional division, with special note given to my Navigation and Attitude Control Subsystem design, which used a genetic algorithm-based AI function to compute optimal Hohmann transfers over co-planer orbits for unmanned navigation.
