Started out doing software development in late 1997 for a company under the Dimension Data group working with companies like Old Mutual and Sanlam. I then moved to the United Kingdom and worked for a company, part of the WPP group, doing web development for 2 years (clients like Knight Frank, P&O Stena Line, Getronics) before starting my own web development company together with one of my colleagues (clients like Cybersuitors, Camp America, Gilt-Edge Travel).
I subsequently returned to South Africa in late 2002 with my family and started working for a small digital media company in Cape Town (clients like Top Holidays, THIRT, expAgency, Promobon, Ford Academy, Sewells, Smirnoff, BAT, J&B).
I then joined a company in Stellenbosch (July 2006 - Nov 2007) doing software development for a company who are leaders in the vehicle asset tracking and fleet management industry.
I joined Bottomline Interactive to head up software development and also did some development work and data analysis for various clients of Customer Care Solutions (a sister company to Bottomline, in the call centre industry).
In August 2008 I joined the software development team as a .Net developer at Consequent working on .Net web applications using MVC patterns for 24.com and Cape Town Tourism.
I joined the team at KRS in June 2009 as the senior .Net software developer.

I joined Omnibridge as a .Net software developer working on their Fleet Management web application. FM-Web is an enterprise-level web-application that allows clients to manage and track their assets (as well as perform a multitude of fleet management tasks) at any time, from anywhere in the world.

Developed PM, CRM and CMS tools. Worked on a variety of apps like simple websites to complex financial systems. Improved programming practices utilising re-usable code. Re-wrote CMS to be more secure, robust and re-usable, multi-lingual and multi-site capable. Top Holidays (3 sites driven from same CMS), MDY (5 websites, 2 languages each driven from same CMS). Integrated with 3rd party software (bar-coding, PDFs, JPEGs, SMS- and payment gateways) and non-standard databases. Developed a business card generation module so dealers could update their details and view/order business cards (print quality PDFs generated for printing). Online examination module for Ford Academy. Exam consisted of pool of questions from which random questions were asked (to ensure difficulty copying answers between candidates). Successful exam results sent to a third party (via XML) so candidates could redeem loyalty points and print-quality PDFs generated for candidates who successfully passed exams.

Developed a content- (CMS) and asset management system (AMS). CMS built with client-side technologies using JavaScript, XML and ASP/SQL, while the AMS used XML and VB components with ASP as the middle tier and SQL for the back-end. AMS used as an extranet tool by the company and clients allowing them secure access to assets. Provided cost-saving alternative since overseas flights and couriers are involved in transporting these documents for approval.

I was appointed at Dimension Data (formerly BSW Data, software department at Plessey Telumat) as a software develoepr after completing my in-service training and my National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. I was contracted to Sanlam and Old Mutual as a web developer. At Sanlam I built their marketers and brokers intranets and at Old Mutual I developed the customer Unit Trust Portfolio Management website to allow customers to manage and trade in Unit Trusts. It was through BSW Data that I started my commercial career as a software/web developer.
