Deborah Hartmann’s Summary
I energetically help teams produce better software by improving their work habits. In coach, team lead and analyst roles I have actively addressed each team’s most pervasive problems, collaborating with management and team members to apply practices such as Lean Thinking, Scrum, Feature Driven Development and Extreme Programming. Experience has shown me that software’s toughest problems are often “people issues”, and so my focus has increasingly shifted toward team-building and facilitation, including use of the Scrum Agile project management methodology, Agile Work, and the Open Space meeting methodology.
I have worked with both traditional software lifecycle methods and Agile approaches: Scrum, RUP, FDD (Feature Driven Development), XP and Test-Driven Development. Most recently I have been coaching organisations in their switch to the Scrum project-management method. No single development approach can guarantee success, but by maintaining frequent "inspect-and-adapt" cycles, these have been proven to deliver useful software in a way that customers can quickly appreciate.
