Doug Dimon's Overview
- Creative Director at Definition 6
Doug Dimon's Summary
I took a job with IBM following college. I worked as a programmer on an operating system that at the time was used in most airline reservation systems and other high volume transaction businesses. I also took commissions for paintings, murals and other art pieces.
Seeking a drastic career change, I moved to the New York City in 1993. I managed to combine my technical skills with my artistic talents when I was given the opportunity to learn animation and effects for television. Since then, I have been doing what I love: creating moving design (moving as in "motion", not "emotional", although some of my stuff has gotten me a little choked up). Fortunately, what I love to do, seemed to please others as well and I gathered a sizeable following of happy clients (including Showtime, USA, History Channel, HBO, NBC, Comedy Central, and loads of others) and numerous industry awards for my work as a designer and Flame artist. In 2001, I became a Principal and Senior Creative at Creative Bubble. In 2007, I became Creative Director, heading up an outstanding team of designers.
In late 2009, my company was acquired by Atlanta-based Agency Definition 6. I was named as Creative Director for the New York office of Definition 6. In my new role I provide strategy and creative for integrated interactive initiatives for our clients, including web, video, social, and any other areas necessary to provide holistic digital solutions. It's been another opportunity for me to leverage my creative and design talents with my love of technology.
