A solo extension of the good work my former biz partner, Kim Ettinger, and I were doing at the warden ettinger group: full-service public/media relations and creative communications for lifestyles, B2C, nonprofit and entrepreneurial clients. I also work with writers in a "ghost" role, or as an editor, researcher or proofreader, and content strategist. Most of the projects and contracted engagements listed here fall under this freelance umbrella.
Awesome opportunity to join Virtua Hospital & Health Foundation as a brand journalist. Lots of great stories just waiting to be told (and shared; hint, hint).

A multi-media project to propagate transformational leadership among girls through lived experiences of pioneer women leaders in Kenya and beyond.
Helping women find their beauty inside and out by supporting a unique direct sales company that excels in branding, marketing and philanthropy, and that has great fashion sense, of course. If you're for female empowerment and someone who loves #beautyandbrains in yourself and the women around you, consider not only adding CAbi fashions to your closet, but also learning how you can give to its Heart of CAbi Foundation and empower women across the globe.
As Mighty Writers Mentor, I spend a minimum of 90 minutes a week with a West Philadelphia 10th grader, either working on writing skills, seeking external academic, writing or job opportunities, and enjoying a bit of Philadelphia culture. My "little guys" are in grades 1-3, and along with former journalist Annette John-Hall, I help with homework, talk about any pressing issues at school or home, work on writing projects and occasionally play kickball.
Temporary position handling grant writing and research, foundation communication/site visits, community outreach, and other fundraising and promotion tasks.

As PR Consultant for Eating Fresh Publications, I will be executing a marketing strategy/blitz for The Grassfed Gourmet Fires it Up: Grilling, Barbecuing, and Smoking with the Healthiest Meats in Town due out early 2011. I will also be involved with the final editing phase of the manuscript prior to it going off to the proofreader.
Future projects slated for 2011 include web & blog copy for The Grassfed Gourmet site and a follow-up Grassfed Gourmet book centered on ... oh you'll just have to wait and see. But it's very exciting!
At Main Line Today, I cover the local food beat (Main Line, Western Suburbs and some Philly/NJ) in print, online and occasionally on TV and radio, as well as write/edit our MLT Must column and contribute feature and profile stories on a freelance basis.
I originally started as a freelancer for Main Line Today in the fall of 2003, but came on board in a part-time capacity in April 2004. In that time I have moved for Assistant editor to Associate editor to Food editor and now Senior and Food editor. I am responsible for a variety of things here at the magazine, but am best known as one of the Main Line's voices on the culinary scene.
I recently got the opportunity to serve as PR and Marketing Consultant for this very unique, quick-service concept. I will be handling all aspects of the launch, including social media and cause marketing, event planning and media relations. Originally conceived for college campuses, the owners chose the family, kid and college student-rich town of Wayne, PA as the location for the flagship storefront. As a lifelong super fan of peanut butter, I am thrilled to be part of this unique—and affordable—dining concept.
Vertex owner Dwayne Wimmer was one of our advertisers when I was Sr. & Food editor at Main Line Today magazine. Following my departure from the magazine I dove into a brief public relations-motivated relationship with Dwayne to help secure publicity for an event, and also to do promotional content for Vertex's website, including blog posts.
In my new gig, I've discovered that I have a knack for being the proverbial Pied Piper for the individuals and organizations that I excite me on a personal level. Most of the time, it never feels like work, because the clients that I take on are so unique, talented, driven and passionate, that the "sell" is easy. (Securing media spots, maybe not so much.) I love the variety of personalities and talent that I am being exposed to. Most of the work so far has been establishing a brand, marketing and planning events, building customer lists and communication via Twitter and Facebook, and, coaching clients into focusing on their goals, honing their message/image, and directing them to the resources that can help get them there.
I am extremely proud of the work I have done with a trio of local fashion designers and the brand and events that we've created: 3 by three. Soon I will have a link up to the terrific fashion show we did at the end of April. What an exciting night. And, the press keeps coming!
I am also working with Elizabeth Chance, aka Bizzy Concierge, who is taking her organizational skills and inspiring personal story to the next level by pursuing a gig as a motivational/inspirational speaker. Again, if all goes well, you will be hearing more about this vibrant, positive-attitude wearing and dynamic woman.
Another exciting (and larger scale) project has been working with up-and-coming band, Glen Landing. If things go according to plan, you'll be hearing a lot more about them soon.
Renee Pedro of Crash Pad Designs is another client of mine, and she's well on her way to gaining notoriety with her groovy, earth-friendly designs and home style sense.
I enjoy all of the clients I work with and the different mini-projects that have helped enhance my existing skill set as a copy writer, media liaison and social media marketer. I'm enjoying the ride and the opportunities that lie ahead. Check back for news on a pending client and business partner.
As part of my trio of professional pursuits, I have embarked on a mission to represent individuals and organizations that are moving beyond the norm, into cutting edge ways of fundraising, entertaining, creating and interacting with their specific audiences. I recently had the pleasure of taking on an exciting fashion event, 3 by three, which is a collaboration between three of Philadelphia's most talented emerging designers. Our initial event, 3 by three: The Fashion Show, was a huge success and will hopefully propel into a new pool of job opportunities based on the media attention and crowd I was able to procure for the designers and the event. I look forward to working with more clients in a Public Relations and Marketing capacity as I move forward.
Prior to taking some time off to do the "mommy" thing, I owned and operated my own catering company. Hence, my interest in the food world. It was a great experience, but not so compatible with starting a family, so I gave it up. However, food is still my favorite thing to think about and talk about :)
Excited to be stepping things up with this fun and impactful organization.
So many great reasons to be excited about this opportunity to work with the Vetri Foundation on the Ninth Annual Great Chefs Event. Mark your calendar now for June 10 at the Philadelphia Naval Yard.
Newly appointed to this unsung, hardworking organization that delivers quality sexual health education and care to teens, men and women, along with AIDS patients; and that also serves as a food pantry for the community. I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that has been doing so much, with so little, for so long.
