A long-term temporary worker supporting the turnkey project for the then One2One mobile phone network that Ericsson was building. My job was to assist in preparing the 'handover packs' that included all of the property and technical information for each mast site. I learnt the basics of IT and computing, including email, networking and the use of intranets and corporate-scale database applications. I had to liaise with a wide variety of different departments and document sources and attention to detail was critical.

This role taught me a lot about the business world, and gave me a firm grounding in the central role of ICT within companies. I feel that I grew into the role and became a significant team member and eventually contributed to improving the processes and systems I was involved with.
