David Gowel's Summary
We are making the web easier to use. RockTech's productivity platform overlays and simplifies the adoption of cloud technologies like Salesforce, LinkedIn, Netsuite, SAP and other web business tools. If you want your organization to have role-based guidance available live on the screen of the cloud technology they are using, RockTech is for you.
Using the leadership experience I gained as a US Army Ranger & Veteran of the Iraq War, I am focused on arming our team to deliver and improve our platform in a way that always exceeds our customers expectations.
In addition to the time I spend focused on growing RockTech, I support various non-profit organizations with my primary efforts surrounding the East End House as well as military and wounded warrior causes.
For LinkedIn search effectiveness, I'm commonly mistaken for Dave Gowell, Gallo, Gaul, Growel, Growell and Brad Pitt.

David Gowel's Experience
Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Information Technology and Services industry
January 2010 – Present (4 years 9 months)
My vision for RockTech is to be the dominant provider of training and adoption products for valuable yet underutilized technologies. We currently target corporations led by successful professionals who have met their successes by using, not abusing, their real-world relationships throughout their careers. It's my pleasure to reinforce and enable RockTech's exceptional team in achieving this vision through our scalable proprietary software platform and a focus on client and end user needs.
Nonprofit; 11-50 employees; Nonprofit Organization Management industry
May 2010 – Present (4 years 5 months)
I have the pleasure of working with spectacular board members in support of the extremely competent and caring staff of the East End House: a not-for-profit, multi-service community center and social service agency, established in 1875, with an on-going commitment to a diverse population, providing programs and services to strengthen family and community.
Expert Resource Speaker
Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Professional Training & Coaching industry
April 2010 – Present (4 years 6 months)
As RockTech's CEO, I stay close to our target market partially by speaking about leadership considerations and strategies for LinkedIn integration to the executives in Vistage sessions.
Nonprofit; 1-10 employees; Civic & Social Organization industry
February 2009 – 2012 (3 years)
I proudly worked with our neighbors to help promote, protect and preserve Kendall Square's value to its inhabitants and visitors.
Educational Institution; 10,001+ employees; Higher Education industry
2008 – 2011 (3 years) Cambridge, Massachusetts
I was admitted in Harvard's Extension School as a candidate for a Master's degree in Management with a concentration in Finance & Control. I completed nearly half the required courses (with an A- average), before choosing to focus on building RockTech instead of continuing this degree. Therefore, I consider myself to be a "start-up drop out."
Educational Institution; 5001-10,000 employees; Higher Education industry
April 2007 – June 2010 (3 years 3 months)
From April 2007 until August 2008: Active Duty Army Captain teaching future leaders of the US Army as well as marketing the Officer corps to students, parents and faculty at MIT, Harvard, Tufts, Wellesley, Gordon, Endicott and Salem State Colleges.
From August 2008 to June 2010: Army Reserve Captain performing duties as adjunct faculty (Assistant Professor of Military Leadership) in a reduced time commitment similar to my previous Active Duty position.
President & CEO
Privately Held; 1-10 employees; Marketing and Advertising industry
June 2007 – January 2010 (2 years 8 months)
I was responsible for stimulating Clearly Creative's and our clients' overall business success. From June 2007 to June 2008, I helped my wife by co-founding the business from a strategic and logistics role on nights and weekends while I was still working at MIT. Then in the summer of 2008, I left my position at MIT to lead Clearly Creative. I focused on supporting our team (employees, clients and partners) in an ethical manner that ensured the highest level of satisfaction for all. And it was the training and consulting we provided our clients at Clearly Creative that spurred the idea for RockTech.
Faculty Aide to Dr. Myra White
Educational Institution; 10,001+ employees; Higher Education industry
December 2008 – March 2009 (4 months)
I provided marketing strategy and implementation surrounding Professor White's book, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road: A Harvard Psychologist's Guide to Becoming a Superstar."
Government Agency; 10,001+ employees; Military industry
May 2005 – October 2006 (1 year 6 months)
As second in command of a thirty-three person organization, I was responsible for acting as the Chief in her absence as well as intensive planning, coordination, division integration, reporting, execution and oversight of all major social and formal conferences and events directed by the Commanding General of the U.S. Army in Europe. Attendees for these events included U.S. and foreign military leaders, members of congress, diplomats and heads of state.
Headquarters Company in Baumholder, Germany
August 2004 – May 2005 (10 months)
As second in command of a 132 person organization, I was responsible for acting as the commander in his absence, and ensuring operational effectiveness and accountability of all equipment and weaponry belonging to the Headquarters Company.
Platoon Leader in Baghdad / Mahmoudiyah / Al Rustamiyah / Yusafia, Iraq
B Company, 1st Battalion, 35th Armor Regiment
May 2003 – August 2004 (1 year 4 months)
Combat leader of fifteen highly trained armor Soldiers and four M1A1 Main Battle Tanks, responsible for mission planning and execution to include raids, cordon & searches, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) search patrols, remote-site security at the Tuwaytha Nuclear Research Facility, Local Iraqi Police Station security, route security, Neighborhood Advisory Council coordination and various nation-building activities. I led my unit to effectively deliver the brand of the United States to win over the 'hearts and minds' of the civilians, public officials, military and (especially) the insurgents in Iraq.
