Apple DocViewer
- June 1989 to December 1990
The Apple DocViewer was like Adobe Acrobat before Adobe Acrobat existed. Instead of shipping thick books, Apple was able to ship CD-ROMs, documentation was searchable, fit on hard disks in notebooks and could travel across the network between desktops. The DocViewer didn't require the authoring application (e.g. Microsoft Word), it preserved the page layout, it was fast and exceptionally searchable. Example code could be copied straight out of a page.
